Vice Chairman of Radiology Research

Carolyn Cidis Meltzer, M.D., Associate Professor of Radiology, Psychiatry, and Neurology, Chief of Neuroradiology, Vice Chairman of Radiology Research, and Acting Medical Director of the MR Research Center. Dr. Meltzer is a neuroradiologist and nuclear medicine physician with expertise as an investigator of brain structure-function relationships in aging and age-related neuropsychiatric disorders. Her research interests center on neuroreceptor and anatomical imaging studies of aging. These include PET studies of the serotonin neurotransmitter system in normal aging, late-life depression, and Alzheimer's disease, and the development of magnetic resonance imaging-based methods to correct PET images for partial volume effects due to cerebral atrophy. Other research interests include whole-body PET imaging applications in oncology, and brain PET and MR imaging of epilepsy.
